On with part 2 of a very busy Saturdays spotting enroute to Oshkosh…..
By the I-94 around 26 miles North of Chicago Executive/Palwaukee was the Russell Military Museum. This place didn’t open until 10:00 but that was ok as it gave a chance for the torrential rains to clear which fortunately they did given that most of the inmates are kept outside!

At Junction 76, I went East along County Road. 28 miles after leaving General Mitchell, I found myself at West Bend/Hahn Sky Ranch. I came here out of interest really as I didn’t have a Ranch airstrip in my logs 🙂 – just the two Cessna seen outside on a quick visit between 15:40-15:45;

Made my way back to I-41 then headed North towards Fond Du Luc and after 24 miles you come across Fond du Lac. I was under the impression there would be more here than I actually saw but to be fair it was busier on my second visit later in the week. Seen here between 16:20-16:40 and no problems with walking around airside….

So a cracking day of spotting almost over with 210 made out of 251 seen. So now it was just left for me to complete the 16 mile drive up I-41 to Oshkosh and Wittman Field, where I set up camp and got my bearings, to be ready for the Oshkosh experience for next day.
Next up will be various reports about my time at Oshkosh, where I saw over 4000 aircraft over my four and a half days there…….
