Hi all,
A bit of a sleep-in this morning and we awoke in Annan to a fair amount of rain. This would very much be the theme for the next few days.
The museum at Dumfries opened at 10am so we took a few moments to visit the nearby Lockerbie Memorial. We got soaked doing so, but we were not the only ones there paying our respects.

I was last at the Dumfries & Galloway Aviation Museum in August 1994 and it was shut then if I remember rightly. This time I was after the rather splendid and pristine Loch Doon Spitfire. The museum needs to be open if you are to see this…..

Still pouring down with rain, I went on a rather hopeful drive to a gliding field at Falgunzeon. Sometimes you get lucky with these places as people take the opportunity to do some spannering or cleaning up. No such luck here and there was lots of running water coming down off the hill this airfield was located on. We came across a gate that the car couldn’t go past, but I could have walked around. I didn’t bother!

August 1994 was also the last time I made it to Prestwick, despite it being mentioned as a joke destination whenever I used to be on a long day spotting trip. I know some quality stuff goes through this place but I really can’t bring myself to drive all the way up here for just a few frames. Not much for me on this visit although this name will crop up again in the next couple of days…..

No flying at Strathaven because of the weather, but my spannering theory worked as I found someone in the first of the two hangars here. They were happy to let me look around but sadly didn’t have keys for the second hangar.
