Tour advert for Croatia – Thursday 28th to Sunday 31st May 2020
Join us for 3 days spotting in Croatia where the Croatian Air Force Air Force will be hosting CROIMAS 2020 at Zadar. We will also be visiting two museums at Zagreb and Pula.
There will also be time for some wrecks & relics and any general aviation fields we come across. Flying in and out from Zagreb will also give time to catch-up the Croatian Airlines fleet.
After landing at Zagreb on Thursday 28th afternoon, we will first look around the airport and the attached military base Zagreb/Pleso and also the Zrakoplovno Tehnički Centar at nearby Velika Gorica where we hope to see the UTVA-75s and An-2s stored outside.
Then we head into the city of Zagreb for our first museum – the Tehnički muzej Nikola Tesla and some wrecks & relics around the city. We will stay near Zagreb Airport that evening.
On Friday 29th, we hit the road for a long day drive taking in Zagreb/Lučko (Croatian Air Force Mi-171s & general aviation), Grobnik (general aviation), Vrsar (museum & general aviation), Medulin (general aviation), Pula Airport, Rijeka Airport (F-84 & T-33) & Otočac (C-47 & 2 x F-84).
Most of Saturday will be spent at Zadar/Zemunik where Croatia will host the first ever Croatian International Military Airshow (CROIMAS 2020). This event will celebrate several anniversaries one of which being the 30th Statehood Day of the Republic of Croatia.
Resident at this Croatian Air Force base are AT-802F, Bell 206B, CL-415, OH-58D, PC-9 & Zlin 242L. The organisers have said they hope to have 100 aircraft at the show and that the next one will be in 5 years time, making this a good time to visit!
Saturday evening will see us make the long drive back towards Zagreb. We will stop at Željava (DC-3), Turanj (2 x MiG-21) and if time allows, another look at Zagreb/Lučko (Croatian Air Force Mi-171s & general aviation area).
On the Sunday and before we catch our flight home, we have the option of staying at Zagreb Airport or going off in search of some wrecks & relics to the Northeast of Zagreb.
