Abingdon (Abingdon Air & Country Show) – Saturday 20th May 2023 (Grant Robinson)

Hi all,

I spent a few pleasant hours at my local air show, again with the wife and Jet in tow. The weather was kind and there was an interesting selection of aircraft to be seen on the ground and during the afternoon flying display. The 2022 event was sadly cancelled due to the death of the Queen, and so it was great to see it coming back with a bang. Attendance seemed to be very good and most people I spoke to, seemed happy enough.

The RAF did well this year, sending in a C-17 which did an impressive short stop landing and also the mighty Hercules, which could be the last public appearance before they retire them? – ticketed Brize event aside. Having first logged Hercules at RAF Lyneham in 1982 and visiting RAF Abingdon in 1983, I’m now starting to feel old, but I’m glad that aviation still survives here…..
